====== Step 17 – Optional Step: Belt Guard ======
New Parts needed for this step:
- Belt Guard Shroud
- Belt Guard Side
===== Step 17.1 – Identify parts =====
Why is the belt guard optional? Honestly, it shouldn't be. However, it is not uncommon to see units operating without all safety features. To provide you with the ability to display this unit in a way that feels most authentic to you, the belt guard is optional.
The shroud is directly under the pumping unit and the side is at the bottom. They are in the proper orientation.

===== Step 17.2 – Remove pulleys =====
Remove the motor and gearbox pulleys. Often the rubber band will stay in the groves.

-----
===== Step 17.3 – Install gearbox shroud =====
Install the shroud as shown. It has no groves and is held in place by the pulleys once they are reinstalled.

===== Step 17.4 – Re-install motor pulley =====
Reinstall the motor pulley
It is much easier to install the pulleys if they are still connected with the rubber band. If the rubber band did not hold them in place previously, replace the bands in the appropriate pulley groves and stretch slightly to force it into the groves.

===== Step 17.5 – Install motor pulley =====
Install the motor pulley being careful to route the rubber bands around the standoffs.
If necessary to reposition fingers, the pulley will typically rest in the proper orientation behind the farthest standoff.
